IBM sees good demand for high end drives:

Message 3646530

What impact on the various components of the Bowland Index? If IBM is seeing demand at this end, will any others be favorably impacted?

Todd,
can you create the relationship between Coercivity and HDD density/sq. in?

you posted on HMTT thread on jan. that komag was producing 500mb platters on 1800 Oe (TFI), but was having trouble migrating to 1 gig at 2000 Oe.

And Hmtt is going to 2.88Gig/3.5" platters on 2800 Oe disks.

I guess, two more questions: what is the usable area on the 3.5" platter? Does this include top and bottom?

TIA
