Normally, the IFMX sales are in local currency. However, when the sale is completed, the value is "hedged" by buying appropriate currency options which will then be sold when actually receiving the cash (this "locks in" a price in US $). However, the problem can be currency instability during the negotiating process or between the time the contract is finalized and it is signed.

Note that this was a "deployment" announcement ("recently introduced the first Internet banking service"), rather than a just completed sale. Depending on the time to develop the application, most of the money could have been received before the Asian money disaster.

One other thing to note is that this is the second announcement of an Asian bank doing Internet banking. This is important from 3 points: IFMX is getting significant Asian sales (while others have been having problems); second, this is another good Internet deployment; third, another good win for the OR technology of IFMX.

Syborg, your right. As far as the Internet goes, I see an explosion in growth coming for products like Informix has. I work for " The " largest software company in the country, I see what is happening and what will come. I can't say who this company is that I work for but lets just say this, I'm on the inside of a huge empire. Best of Luck.
