<<..... I've bought four DELL computers over the past year >> and
<<Dell products because they are CRAP>>

Either you're a slow learner or your spreading some misinformation on Dell. Why would anyone buy a second unit if the first was "crap" ...
much less a third and a fourth?

re On the other hand, I have stopped buying Dell products because they are CRAP, and the "customer service" is a sick joke

That's odd. This past weekend I met a friend I hadn't seen in several years. Of course, I was wearing one of my DELL shirts, so he asked me if I were working for DELL. I replied that I was not, but that it made a lot more sense to me to wear a DELL shirt than a "Tommy Hilfiger" or "LA Gear" shirt, or Nike shoes, since I own a bit of DELL stock. He said, "Yes, it's a great company. I wouldn't ever buy anything but DELL again. You know you get a 1-year on-site service guarantee?" I did. He continued, "About a year ago, I had a problem with the modem on one of my machines. I called DELL, talked to a service representative -- at 9:00 AM the next morning my doorbell rang and a man delivered and installed a new modem" (My friend lives some distance NE of Dallas.)

I have previously posted my own experience with their service. Nor have I EVER heard anecdotal evidence which was negative. Therefore, with all due respect, I would like you to expound upon "sick joke" -- if you have a legitimate complaint, I feel certain that posting it here is likely to get you some satisfaction. On the other hand, you claim to be a lawyer, so, should your statement be non-factually based, you would understand the legal considerations better than I.

DELLish, 3.

I have a dell at work and I have a cheap Asian generic from 1988 that I keep upgrading (my cheap computer that cost about $800 back then) my Asian generic gives me less problems than my heavy duty, high powered, bells & whistles loaded dell.

EC,

I would be interested in the specifics of the problems that you are having with your DELL computing systems>

Are the problems hardware or software oriented? Under what circumstances do the problems occur? Are the problems 'reproducable'?

Are the problems in the systems linked to a common device, like a disk drive, which may have been in a 'run' of which you got several, causing all of this trouble? What kind of trouble did you run into at DELL when you tried to get the systems fixed? Did you 'ecsalate' your problems to the next level to try for resolution?

I am sure that your kind of trouble is the kind that DELL really wants to correct! If you have failed to make your problems know to the 'TOP' management, you are in some part responsible!

I have always been a fan of MSFT, but after spending 8 hours on the phone with a Microsoft (not Contractor) software expert, was advised that the only thing he could recommend was a 'total reload'! The software is not only large, but complex. I currently have several programs that don't like each other very much, and will 'lock' up the system! I could condemn the hardware, but I believe it to be a software problem!

I am sorry that you have had trouble with any of your systems!

Regards,

Ken
