Paul Marley ... I wondered if you were a relative of Ian ..

I know Ian and of his tenure at York and the move to Arizona. Your son gave you good advice. He will know me too, although I am one who has preferred to remain anonymous on this forum (although Paul Levy and Melissa know my identity). Look for a private message from me.

Re: RRSP - I figured that's what you were doing with the 'crystalizing'. I did a similar thing in a smaller way last month (not all funds). I was doing some fund switching. I may do this again (sell and re-buy), but there are the load fees to consider. Of course, PSFT can make that up I am sure.

If you are looking for growth high tech stock which is Canadian, there may be better choices. I won't recommend anything, but you could read articles, check investment advisory publications, other financial advisory sources. I personally haven't looked into any similar Cdn websites, but maybe there is something which has info for you.

Check out MKS of Waterloo - they have been a good news company for sometime and are public within past year. Another one is from Cambridge and it's "A"-something - sorry I can't remember. These are small companies with in demand products.

Another option, buy more PSFT outside RRSP.
