John: If CPQ's sales are down and assuming there was some channel stuffing, the Sales growth for INTC in terms of pure numbers should decrease.

Further, the deep price cuts in Computers will also impact INTC who will face bigger price cut demands by the Box makers. Historically, trailing P/S and P/E's for INTC have been lower than the current valuations. The tech support is in the $68 range.

I see INTC in a downward trend because of these factors. I would appreciate any corrections you may have regarding this assessment.

Thx.

John - Re: "Ed is correct about the inventory shortfall. I think I heard 200k units,"

These inventory numbers were extracted from the RETAIL channel.

Compaq, as you noted, claimed that their real problem was with the commercial (business) sector.

Better see if you can get inventory levels in those channels.
