Investorgal,

I think you're thinking of Sybase.

Informix is winning good business with SAP, Baan, and growing business with Peoplesoft and SSA.

Wouldn't many customers hold off until profit was announced? There were still heaps of question marks over IFMX in Q4. Perhaps there is even more business which didn't close until the profit announcement?

Also IFMX is NOT a major player with the apps vendors. Right now
that's where the money is. The intranet/internet is a future play in terms of
large amounts of revenue. IFMX still needs to get the momemtum in the
other areas to be a major player in the net.

investorgal,
You and I agree about the lack of apps revenue. The other stuff you posted, cost of sales events etc., I dont know. But certainly apps revenue is missing on ifmx's balance sheet. And as far as internet dbms apps, I'm seeing a strong preference for at least a look at the new msft sql server product. Whether it holds up to the marketing will be critical, but if it does, its gonna be a rocky road ahead. Of course I realize that ifmx is way ahead in the ius technology, but until that takes off big time they have to compete in the general engine space.
