WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A reporter whose bombshell 1993 magazine article
sowed the seeds of the White House sex scandal apologized to President Clinton
Monday, saying he was no longer sure the story was true.

He said he came on the story of alleged philandering by the Democratic president
through one of Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich's financial backers,
whom he did not identify.
