Interesting you bring up Y2K as a barrior to equipment purchases.

I happen to have a different thought on that.

A large number of companies are planning on fixing their Y2K problems with software upgrades, rather than fixing the old stuff. That will require plans to buy new hardware as well, that can better handle the newer software. I think the whole Y2K problem will instead create business in the next two years that may have been put off into the next decade, otherwise. So we may be looking at an explosion in earnings over the next 6-8 quarters.
