DIVERSINET AND CERTICOM TEAM TO DELIVER ADVANCED SECURITY FOR ENTERPRISE NETWORKING AND
ELECTRONIC COMMERCE

Certicom Enables Diversinet's Public-Key Infrastructure Product Line with
Strong, High-Speed Elliptic Curve Cryptography

SAN MATEO, Calif., March 10 /CNW/ - Certicom Corp., a leading provider of
cryptographic security technologies, and Diversinet Corp., a leading developer
of public-key infrastructure (PKI) technology, today announced they have
entered into a licensing agreement whereby Certicom will provide Diversinet
with advanced data security technologies, based on Certicom's Elliptic Curve
Cryptography (ECC). Diversinet will incorporate Certicom's security technology
into its PKI product line to provide businesses with efficient, flexible and
comprehensive security solutions for enterprise networking and electronic
commerce.
An efficient security infrastructure is a critical component for
electronic commerce and the transfer of sensitive information. By
incorporating Certicom's ECC technology, Diversinet will provide a highly
efficient security infrastructure including digital identities and digital
signatures, generated by Certicom's ECC, to protect sensitive electronic
transactions. Digital identities based on elliptic curve technologies are
orders of magnitude more efficient than existing solutions based on the RSA
algorithm. Certicom will provide Diversinet with advanced cryptographic
security tools to create compact digital signatures and perform strong, fast
encryption. Certicom's performance advantage will enable Diversinet to create
new cost effective and scalable security solutions.
''Certicom's technology is superior to other cryptographic options, and
will dramatically enhance the performance of our technology,'' said Nagy
Moustafa, Diversinet's president and CEO. ''Certicom offers incredible
advantages in speed, bandwidth savings, reduced processor requirements and
power consumption, making their products the preferred choice to secure
wireless, electronic commerce and networking applications.''
''Diversinet answers the need for a comprehensive PKI solution with
efficient, scalable digital certificates,'' Rick Dalmazzi, Certicom's
executive vice president, sales and marketing. ''Together, our technologies
will enable the next generation of secure, high-speed electronic commerce.''
