Hi Mqurice, sad to see your nonchalant attitude about Finland's upcoming economic demise. However, we might not have to worry about that just yet. Recent figures about China's mobile phone sales show that GSM phone sales quadrupled (!) to 8 million units in 1997. Sales are so strong even a bloated turkey like Motorola managed to shift 2 million units. Nokia is the only major company increasing its market share. Funny thing about the report was that it didn't even mention CDMA phones. I think it's a pretty solid showing from an "outgoing" technology when they are forecasting annual Chinese GSM sales above 30 million units by year 2000. I think CDMA better haul ass or it gets left in the dust, what do you say? Might I inquire whether CDMA handsets on sale in China even have Chinese pictograms in their displays? The lack of this capability caused Siemens' market share to plummet from 10% to 6% last year. If CDMA lacks this feature, it's a non-starter. That's the thing with a mature technology like GSM... it incorporates all these value-added features that just might turn up to be crucially important in the consumer market. Tero
