Jack, are you arguing for term limits?

I basically like that idea, but it seems to be so expensive to run at all for public office today, candidates wouldn't be getting much bang for the buck. I know we have a whole bunch of millionaires running for governor of California right now.

I am still unclear why it would be impossible to shorten the campaign time, seriously limit the money each candidate spends on advertising, and have small, civilized elections more like Britain and Ireland do. Of course, these are tiny places, geographically speaking, compared to the United States, and have mostly literate populations. People still read newspapers and campaign handouts there. Perhaps the United States is just too big to be easily governable at all, but I can't really offer any alternative.

What qualities does a good leader have, in your opinion?
