For the foreign funds, I use the World Indices at YAHOO as well as the WEBS on the American exchange to point toward upward or downward trending countries. I then compare all funds from that country and hopefully select the best performing one. Good luck.

ANDREW (James), if you find IF shares to short can you let us know where? I have not succeeded in shorting IF at Q and R or Waterhouse. Obviously the short involves risk of a rupiah rally, for example if the IMF were to cave in and accept a currency board system. Hedging with longs in certain Indonesian ADRs may be indicated, but I haven't got to that point (some of them in IF's portfolio seem to trade close to the quotes in KL, others at a premium, based on a spot check). As for other shorts, why isn't JEQ a good one, at least as a hedge to Japanese exposure in open-end funds or a discounted CEF? I am also short MFV. Good luck. -- Shoe

P.S. Why LDF at such a small discount, and not LAM, for example?
