Welcome aboard NL Viands, does NL stand for Nextel Lover?

Good to have somebody who knows what their talking about regarding group conferencing. (1/2 G)

As a newcomer you are subject to the standard initiations rituals. Al G. is the Grand Pooba of initiations, and what he says goes. Good luck.

Don't be a stranger.

Regards,

Ron

NL: I heard the cost is high for direct connect, all participants are charged, the fact that the caller foots the bill for the others is not material.

Now, if this is true, direct connect may be nice, but expensive. Why would there be a conference direct connect anyway? I'm asking myself this question, Phone conference on land line would be cheaper, wouldn't it.

Direct connect is a nice feature, however, to get your moneys worth of this feature, the user would need to communicate from the field with other users in the field. Otherwise, a pager would be much more efficient, with a return land line or cellular call, right?

Some old fashioned wireless guy was telling me the differences between the old standard systems and Nextel's proprietary system. The old systems, analog, have some advantages, it seems. Remember, I'm an accountant what do I know, other than I'm unhappy about Nextel's borrowing.

Fill me in on the exact charges, please. I want phones for the family, however, I don't want surprises. If pager and cellular is cheaper, then, thats the way.d

Regards from

Al G., the only surprises that I like, are the ones that I provide.
