*AV* -- It was just here for the taking (#12700) but I do have a little something to point out to Jeff.

Most of the Symbios profit was in the RAID business since they seemed to have blown out their business forecast in 1997 with great revenues and profits. Semiconductors took a hit against earnings for the ill timed closing of Fort Collins and would have been even more profitable had the COS SPRGS facility been full. If they let Fort Collins continue to run for the next 1-2 years, more profits would have been achievable. Now they are looking to foundry out 6 months to 1 years worth of device manufacturing.

This sale does have a drawback. Hyundai spent a great deal of money in Fab 7 to be able to run the advanced SYM9 process for Symbios. They were a couple of backend (CMP type) pieces of equipment away from being able to meet the needs of Symbios. Mixed Signal manufacturing is not a s easy as it seems and is not a drop in process at any foundry. This takes time. I wonder if Hyundai, according to your article, will use some of the money in Fab 7 in Korea and then act as a foundry partner to ADPT for the SYM9 process. Win-Win for both parties.

Kevin - IPEC and ASYT are looking real good. However, what is your Read on PAIR??

Opportunity Lost Department - Some real good action on BAAT yesterday, huh??? Looks like they are on the offensive now. Still way too risky for me. It almost seems like "the last defiant act..." They went after Stock Detective, the media, and will continue in a "%-part Manifesto". ATIS collapsed to just above $10 after the boiler room was pushing it in the mid 11s. The guy is now brow beating me because it is now $12.25 and "running". Well EXCUUUUSE ME Butthead. But getting in at 11.375 when he suggested (the chart stunk) would have netted less than a $1 to date. Not a word from him when it tanked to $10 other than it might see $9 before reversing. Of course, the stock did reverse 1-2 hours later and the callback was to jump onboard real fast. Do we smell an orchestrated manipulation of what???

Andrew
