Jane (and Mar from Mars for that matter), Jim and I apologize for our overly technical talk. I was responding to a discussion Jim had presented earlier. My comments were directed more towards him and anyone who was into the technology side of what Novell has to deal with. The discussion does relate to one of many factors that would determine Novell stock price - demand of their up-coming NetWare 5 product within the Application Development arena. Jim can summarize his opinion to you but, here is my opinion... I think by Novell putting platform enhancements into NetWare to allow a much easier environment for application developers to use, Novell is only helping NetWare 5's desire and demand in the marketplace. The technology we were talking about marks a dramatic new set of features capabilities that NetWare has never had. Prior to NetWare 5, when Novell put out a new release of NetWare, it was only a faster smarter or more fully feature File & Print server. This has always created the problem that many of Novell's clients are satisfied enough with their current NetWare that they saw no need to upgrade (as a system integrator - I see this ALL THE TIME - there is still NetWare 2.x users out there for crying out loud). With NetWare 5, Novell may provide huge technical incentives for these fence-sitters to finally realize a need to upgrade. Therefore, Novell's strategy of putting these features/architectures (JVM and CORBA) into NetWare 5 only helps product demand. My conclusion, NetWare 5 will be very successful and this is one factor why. If NetWare 5 proves to be successful, Novell's mind-share in the industry press will finally be re-elevated and the cycle begins. Bottom line, I am bullish on Novell stock price if Novell releases NetWare 5 on time or maybe even earlier. I feel if there will be a bull run on the stock it would happen on and around the release of NetWare 5. I think that there will be a little spike in stock price at the end of the month with the excitement of Brainshare announcements and the media's response. Then it will stay between $10-$11.5 until the NetWare 5 release. IMO the price will go up from there. Sorry again for all the tech talk Jane. ToySoldier
