PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1998--Three-Five Systems Inc.
(NYSE:TFS) Thursday announced that it has received a production order
for a liquid crystal display (LCD) module from a major U.S.-based
manufacturer of telecommunication equipment.
The production order calls for initial second quarter shipments
of the module which contains a liquid crystal display and related
components.
The custom LCD graphics module was designed by Three-Five Systems
and will be used by Three-Five's customer in a portable, digital
cellular telephone (GSM) for worldwide distribution.
"This order demonstrates the flexibility we have designed into
our advanced manufacturing capabilities," said Vince Hren, vice
president of operations for Three-Five Systems. "Our customer required
a modified assembly process that had not been needed in any previous
programs. We stepped up to that requirement, and as a result we were
the first to market with our customer among several suppliers on this
program."
Three-Five Systems Inc. designs and manufactures user interface
devices for operational control and information display functions in
products of original equipment manufacturers.
The company specializes in liquid crystal display (LCD) and light
emitting diode (LED) components and technology in providing its custom
design and manufacturing services for customers in the communications,
medical electronics, industrial process control, wireless data
collection and office automation marketplaces.
At its Tempe, Ariz. headquarters, Three-Five operates the highest
volume LCD manufacturing line in North America and a research and
development laboratory dedicated to advanced display technologies. The

Speaking of funny stories. Today (assuming the earlier post is accurate) TFS announces a new order which will commence in the 2nd quarter and of course the stock trades down 3/8 point. Now that's funny - not really.
