Tom, of course there is a positive correlation between growing companies competing in the same market, because good financial results for one implies that the environment is healthy for all. The converse of that is also true. Look at how the market reacted to Dell when Compaq warned about it earnings.

The implication is clear. When these companies are all growing competition is unlikely to emerge by price cutting. But when one or more companies begin to feel the pinch you can bet that the market begins to worry about growth and price competition for all participants in the market.
