Carl: Thanks for the article. Where did you find it--San Jose Mercury? It further reinforces my view of the wisdom of the purchase of Symbios. I think the merging of the two companies is an excellent idea. Better than trying to run Symbios as a subsidiary. Good for the employees, too. Makes them part of the Adaptec team.

Carl: Thx for that brief. Whilst I do share in the enthusiasm, I still
have not found an adequate explanation for the 2-1/2 pt drop on 25 Feb, the day the acquisition was announced. The street was not enthusiastic about the acquisition , nor were S&P. I keep wondering why.

Theoretically, the acquisition of SYMBIOS should result in an increase of $600m in Sales which is a big +ve. Does anyone know the date on which the deal will be effective from.?
