at least one of those posts from Yahoo says that the funds are calling in their shares. I tried to get some shares to short today from Dreyfus, and they didn't have any in house, and they said they tried yesterday to get some and they could not find any to borrow from their OTC trader. So shares to short seem to be in short supply.
