Brian,
All kidding aside, do yourself a favor and take your own "pharmacy"
with you! Aspirin, bandages, Pepto-Bismol, anti-biotics, etc. They
don't have any ready access to medical supplies in those countries
and they don't speak English, so you need to be very self sufficient
and prepared for any possibility. You may want to take a medical
reference book for emergency situations.

Brian,

I sold my mountain bike to a friend a couple of years ago to get enough money to go to Kodiak Alaska and fish salmon commercially. The fishing was a success but, alas, seasonal. I'm back on Maui, and I miss my bike. My friend loves it and won't sell it back. It was a purple Giant Iguana.

Another friend just got back from Africa and, after taking "all the precautions," contracted Malaria. You know how people are forever telling "I thought I was gonna die," stories? Well Myrna said, she wanted to die she was so miserable.

Come bike down Haleakala sometime. 38 miles from 10,000 feet to sea level in less than two hours! And its ok to drink the water.

Good luck with your thread,
Mike.
