And what about what Nintendo is now doing to Sony? N64 outsold
Playstation in spades last year and now has an installed base
nearly that of Playstation, despite a lack of games.

If Sega works out their legal issues with 3DFX over the use of the
PowerVR chip, they will be back next year with the next new big bad
console.

What makes anyone so sure that Sony is going to treat HiFD like the
Playstation and not the MiniDisc when it comes to marketing? IF it
even gets produced? Playstation is a glamour, high profile market.
Any amount of glamour or high profile that the removable disk market
has is a result of Iomega's marketing team.

subsidize an all-out price assault on Zip

That's called dumping and Senator Hatch from Utah
would certainly have something to say about that.

>> Sony will do to Iomega what they did to Sega. <<

Once again I ask you: ( but I really don't expect an answer)

Why will other box makers rush to include a competitor's (Sony) product in their sku's?

>> ....subsidize an all-out price assault on Zip. <<

Will the other box makers oem a Sony if the price is only temporarily ( and artificially) low?

Can't you jst see the vp's at DELL lining up to go in and tell Mike, "Hey, let's dump Zip and go for the Sony. They've promised me that once Zip is dead and we're dependent on them for the new removeable standard, they won't raise prices or play games with our supply line.....even if we're kicking the heck outta them in box sales, they've promised to make sure we get all the drives we need to keep out selling them."
