Jon, What do you mean it's not appropriate to run Excel, Word, etc. as remote applications? Of course it is appropriate. There are hundreds and hundreds of examples where it is being done right now. That is what Citrix is all about. Microsoft even knows it's appropriate or they wouldn't have given Citrix $75 million to start with.

I ran Microsoft Access from my desktop, via a browser, a 28.8 modem connection, 400 miles away, one year ago, and ran the Citrix server sitting in Ft. Lauderdale like it was on my LAN!

Hard disks are cheap but that's not the point. Administration is very expensive! That's what all the complaining is about. A pervious poster (I don't know how to link to it) nicely explained what it's like being a network administrator. It's pretty much a nightmare.

I can't believe you actually think thin clients won't make it in a general office setting? Or maybe I just am reading you wrong?
