Brad - Your instant implementation of suggestions never ceases to amaze. SI keeps getting better and better. Thank you!

p.s. [Still working on a way to narrow search to within a thread?]

Hey Brad, has there been a change in the user name policy? The reason I ask is that there are two different Tom R. Jones on the boards.

This conversation appears to have ONE Tom where here the first one asks a question:

Message 3661466

and flames the guy who responds to him:

Message 3704467

but if you click on the 'Tom' profile in each message, you see it's TWO different people. Not sure that I like the idea of another 'Bill Ulrich' potentially out flaming people or shilling scams without me knowing about it.

This is another case where a 'people profile' search capability I asked about much earlier might come in handy.

An embarrassment of riches.

Brad I posted this to Jeff first but see your on duty
and he is on vacation <G> here goes.

I see a lot of people talking about how they would
like to change their names, like after they been on for
a while they see all those catchy handles and wish they
had done that. ( myself included )
More often than not someone tells they to e-mail Jill,
but I don't think most of them do.
And it would likely be a pain if you guys had to change all
of them that wanted to use another handle, so I guess it's cool that most of us don't ask.
We are so grateful for SI we don't want to be a pain,
or we embarrassed to ask for a name change, or supthin.

Give some thought to how people could when they change their
profile adopt a new handle "user name" that would tag their
posts. Yet not really have to re-register them.
Like maybe you could add a "user name" handle type thingy
to the profile, options that would take it a step beyond
changing the e-mail address.
Thanx
Jim

Brad,

For BB quotes, could you expand the field to 3 digits after the decimal point?

Thanks

Judith

Suggestion: integrate people and subject bookmarks so that when you go to the Message Manager that you can review all the items of interest. You could sort the subjects first.

Brad:

SI has been characterized, at least in some biotech threads, by reasoned discourse.

The new visitor policy is having a pronounced negative impact.

Consider that short-term promotional efforts may have a negative impact on your long-term success?

I would be willing to pay a premium to help you maintain a user base where the average contributor is well-informed. We fled misc.invest.stocks to get away from this sort of stuff.
