QWST has no ties to Kiewit or MFS, other than that Crowe was briefly on QWST's board of directors.

wasn't the price tag for MFS was closer to $11B?

Scott and Don,

Thanks. FYI there was an article in the Omaha World Herald today that was very positive re: KIWT - not a surprise - but it did mention the possibility of a delay in moving forward if the gov't. considers the plan a potential monopoly. I don't have any more details about the article than that.

Here is another player in the fiber optic world that hasn't been mentioned. They are laying cable along one of the railroad's lines in Canada--I believe it is Canadian National.

Fonorola to sell 4.25 mln shares
TORONTO, March 11 (Reuters) - Fonorola Inc said on Wednesday it plans to sell 4.25 million common shares or a combination of common shares and Class A non-voting shares at C$35.50 each to raise C$150.875 million.
The lead underwriter is Griffiths McBurney & Partners.

Fonorola ''intends to use the proceeds of the offering primarily for continued strategic penetration of the United States telecommunications market, potential acquisitions and for general corporate purposes,'' the statement said.

The share offer was not registered under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933 and may not be sold in the U.S.

Fonorola has built 5,000 kilometres of its planned 12,000 km fibre optic network in Canada and the United States.
