Re: Gore Vidal.

I read somewhere that he lived most of the time in Italy. Good riddance.

>>Also, the concept of censure by Congress is interesting to me. I would prefer this to nothing, at least. As I have said before, teaching children good morals is difficult enough without trying to explain all of this to them.

Lott's idea. Reason? Republican politicos want Clinton in power. People who vote Republican want none of that - they want his head on a pole. (sorry for that, his head is on a ....). Too bad Lott, ain't in the Constitution.

>>Did anyone post the comment writer Gore Vidal made the other day, incidentally, something like he would prefer that children were listening to stories about oral sex in the Oval office rather than listening to Oral Roberts?

Gore is Gore's cousin. (tautology?; yes, but true is true, yikes!).

Btw, does Gore Vidal still strut in that "Jackie O" getup? Struts in Italy. Could someone there please check on taht?

Although Oral Roberts was certainly named for the wrong end, I'd prefer taht America's "Little Johnny"s listen to him rather than tales of Little Mary blowing the principal.

As for law-breaking, I, as an American would not be easily satiated with an apology, if indeed laws were broken (not determined yet). Setting precedence for the emptying of our jails with a simple "Golly Your Honor, I'm sure sorry about embezzling a zillion bux and axe-murdering the Jones family next door" just isn't my idea of fun.

Christine:

As Buckley once said face-to-face to Gore Vidal during a live ABC broadcast during the '68 Chicago Democratic Convention, "Mr. Vidal, you are a little pinko slut."

I wouldn't go that far, but I would say the President of the U.S. must not suborn perjury or obstruct justice. If it is proven that he did the Constitution requires he be impeached. I agree. An "apology" from him would not be enough.

BTW, Clinton has little to do with the state of the economy. It shows the ignorance of the media and a majority of the American people that they think there is more than the most tenuous connection. It also reflects on the poor public educational system the U.S. has and adds fuel to the argument that the public school system in America should be abolished.
