Here's my nickle. Their already doing it with their 300,000 mmx units. Their dropping the prices like crazy and eating the loss. As far as number two it's easy . Do what Dells been doing BTO. It's taking longer than expected but it will come. Their new motto should be "If we sell it it will be made". Sure seems to have worked for DELL. Number three don't have a clue. I'll leave that to some fundamentalist out there. After all I'm only Chartist.

BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY

What will compaq do with excess inventory??? I'll tell you.

1.. They will sell it ! Its called slashing prices

I want to ask you, do you think Compaq is a good value ?

If you do not I would love to know your reasons.

Yes. compaq is does have incredible inventory build up but remember
that it isnt loaded with washing machines. Ya, your right compaq is done they have a few computers left over. Close the doors Turn the red lights of the compaq logo. stocks definetly going to 8 1/4

Computers are still selling at an incredible rate. Compaq is ready to fill the worlds hands with next generation machines.

My point for the evening "COMPAQ IS THE SAME COMPANY IT WAS LAST YEAR
EXCEPT FOR THE STOCK IS CHEAPER. I WILL CONTINUE TO CARRY LOADS OF THE STOCK ON MY BACK THROUGH THE NIGHT.

The questions that were asked to me are so funny. As if you were an analyst that knows the scoop on this billion dollar company and has first hand insight with regard to the "huge inventory problem" that compaq has. You know nothing. It will blow over in a month.

By companies based on its products.
By companies based on its people.
Why mimick the analysts and their short term ratings.

By the way, Eckerd has sugar plums dancing in his head.

When Dell gets smashed for no reason, you'll bad mouth dell too,
when infact you probably should have been buying. Dammn, another opportunity slipped away........I should have been more positive.

JF,

RE: " What is CPQ going to do with the 300,000 MMX units they have stuck in the channel that corp america does not want?"

1) In which channel, the commercial channel or retail channel. You will probably find the MMX in the Presario (retail home PC), Not the Deskpro(commercial desktop). Retail channel seems to have (if you have read posts here on SI and outside sources) a SHORTAGE of PCs.

2) Your question tries to create the impression that you KNOW that there are 300,00 units of any kind in any channel. You are professing to know more than manufacturers know themselves at any point in time. If you are giving numbers, please state your sources.

3) Screwdriver shops like Dell are necessarily oriented towards less complicated products. Dell is the only one of the screwdriver shops that has not purchased a company which has high level ($) servers. Nearly all of Dell's PC server competitors sell server products that support up to 6 processors and NT and Unix standard operating systems. Dell, in an interview cited elsewhere on thread gave average price of their product as somewhat less than $2K. Manufacturers enter a different world when larger scale servers come into play. The distribution channel and VAR (resellers) customize the larger systems to customer requirements. It is kind of like ordering a new Tarus compared to a Kenworth 18-wheeler Truck.
