Even if Q1 is on target, Q2 does not look good. Q1 release should come with warning
for Q2. Don't know where all the optimism is coming from.

That's right! Or he wouldn't make unfounded assumptions.

<<<Are you talking about Q2 of ASND or tech stocks in general. Can you be more
specific about ASND's and what is your basis in saying that about Q2. You are
posting as though you are sure about Q2 warning.>>>>

BR....He does know, Ashley,Ejabat have clearly stated earnings are growing for '98, They have large contracts with the top companies. They have excellent products. They are definitely working hard to re-establish credibility by guiding analysts. Ascend has no reason to warn of anything. THEY ARE ON TRACK, I for one believe the company. I suspect they will exceed the next 2q estimates as they have been kept conservative. The 2half '98 should be killer.

I don't think Q1 is the worry for ASND. They already made comments months ago that they expected to meet THIS quarter. (Maybe a big order early in the year.) However, I am worried about any warnings of continued weakness in Asia, particularly Japan, where ASND has alot of exposure. This little disclaimer at a post-earnings conference is what could damper interest for this stock. ASND's situation is very similar to Oracle's in that they have alot of exposure to Japan, so I would look over Oracle's post-earnings comments to see what problems in Asia they expect in the coming quarters.
