Didn't see the logic in your message? Java is a great thing
but Sun survives based on it's UNIX and now mid
to high-end boxes (hardware company); both of which are probably
the best in the biz and are continuing to grow as the UNIX
market consolidates on Sun + Solaris.

wrt to Java any company/developer that intends to develop
Java apps would be foolish not to stick to the standard
JDK/JFC as much as possible. The power of Java is that
pure Java apps are platform independant. Using MSFT tools
such as J++/JDirect/WFC only chains applications to the
MSFT environment ... limiting future portability. MSFT's
attempt to create their own dysfunctional Java environment
will be interesting but I suspect end in failure.

As a developer I do not know of any company going in the MSFT
direction wrt to Java development. Pure JDK/JFC along with
Symantec visual tools is the direction I see; Symantec has
the best IDE.

As an investor I see exponential growth in the low and high
end Server market for SUNW along with increasing licenses
for their UNIX + unbundled products for the short to mid
term: through FY98.
