Not exactly on point here, but an interesting breaking story turn in a story that just won't go away.

Teacher who had baby with student is pregnant, newspaper says
3.38 p.m. ET (2039 GMT) March 14, 1998

SEATTLE (AP) - A former teacher ordered to stay away from a 14-year-old boy who fathered her daughter is pregnant again, and she believes the same teen-ager is the father, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Saturday.

Mary Kay LeTourneau underwent a sonogram Wednesday at the Women's Correctional Center in Purdy that showed a fetal heartbeat, the newspaper said, quoting an unnamed source familiar with the former schoolteacher's condition.

"She is very excited about the new baby,'' the source said.

Prison officials refused to comment. Spokeswoman Patty Wachtel said inmates' medical records are confidential.

Ms. LeTourneau is serving 7 1/2 years in prison for her sexual relationship with the boy, whom she describes as the love of her life. She had a daughter by him last year.

Ms. LeTourneau received a suspended sentence in January after pleading guilty to second-degree rape in the case. She was imprisoned in February after she and the boy were found together in a car. LeTourneau is six weeks pregnant, the source said.

The boy told a counselor that he and Ms. LeTourneau had sex before she went to jail.

Prison officials did not immediately return a call for comment.

Ms. LeTourneau's husband has filed for divorce and moved to Alaska with their four children.

Righteous anger can so quickly turn to self-righteous hatred.

Good comment. And now for a brief reality check:

Why do some people consider the sexual activites/proclivities of others to be so very important? Why do they consider sex to be, of itself, important? It's quite simply a normal human behavior, and has been engaged in in the same ways for millennia.

What's the big deal?
