Ascend earnings and long-term view - very likely will meet or exceed a few cents for this qtr as they've been saying all along - the stock price, even though with these postive news is not moving much, why? some key issues: 1. much more competition in the RAC mkt Two yrs ago asnd is the only one. today : csco has 3 products and they're gaining share from virtually 0 to somewhere in the 20%, where is this mkt share coming from.?? 3com has a strong product. They're also having a significant share ACC with its new Tigris carrier RAC is getting a good foothold, especially in Europe becasue of its affiliation with NN LU + Livinston coming up soon with a carrierclass RAC SHVA with NT strongly competing for share So, if asnd is only in the RAC mkt today (w/o cscc) will it still maintain this 35 price?? big question asnd said they're are not gaining share in the RAC and having stiff competition 2. Large ATM switch mkt is very cyclical, One qtr can be great and the next really bad. So, the cscc side is pretty much hard to predict. Competition is always going to be very tough in ATM switch mkt, more so now as the telcom giants also want a piece of this pie that can get 30% margin
