I read the CPQ posts everyday and see several generalities used.

Could someone define a sub-$1000 dollar computer.

By this I mean: 1) what is the highest computing power available in a sub-1000 (i.e. 200mhz, 4g hard drive, 32Mb RAM, etc.)

What level of power/technology is available for under $1000? I can buy 486's under $1000 but so what, I still don't have what I need!

Thanks

Mike

all good points that make perfect sense. Unfortunately, CPQ has no mgmt bandwidth to implement any of your out of the box ideas.

they are too busy flying on planes back in forth from Mass., and trying to get ODM off the ground for the 18th month.

This is made worse by the recent mgmt exodus at CPQ (I am sure you remember the friday night schraith exodus. I think there were two others that walked out with him) I'll assume someone beat that to death on this thread, and won't even go there :) for now :) :) :)

as far as second time computer buyers, did you see Dell's growth in that market (i.e. $2000+ ASP to consumers in Q4) it something like 90%% YOY. From what I understand, dell has recently added some focus and attention to that market. I;d say the second time market is heading down one road... get out your credit card and go to www.dell.com! for books its amazon.com, for computers its dell.com
what is amazon's PE ratio, like 50 or 100 or something. maybe dell is cheap at 35-45.... what;s the netizen symbol for just kidding!

just one man's opinion. please do not consider this investment advise and as always check with your accountant.
