Ed,
You wrote, "I can tell you that in not more than one year, when all the other box makers implement the same models as Dell has,"

Compaq, IBM and others announced, approximately one year ago, that they were going to implement BTO. I haven't seen any evidence that they made any significant progress. In the mean time, Dell improved their inventory turns even more. Can anyone explain how Compaq and IBM might challenge Dell's direct business model without killing their retail distribution business? I don't see how Compaq and IBM will be able to challenge Dell in direct sales, and I see no evidence that Dell intends to sell through retail channels.
Jack

Ed,

I hear you, alhough your post is a little vague, I assume you mean when and if CPQ ever implements ODM then Dell will be in big trouble..

Let me ask you question, when you say

"when all the other box makers implement
the same models as DELL has"

do you mean when CPQ once and for all sheds itself of the reseller channel? Do you believe CPQ will ever do this?

Jason
