Buckwheat,

IBM's Manufacturing of K6 for AMD:

To my knowledge, IBM would not start the fab until the second half of this year. And since it takes almost an entire quarter to produce, we would not see a K6 built by IBM until Q4. A lot of things can happen from now, Q1, to Q4. From this, it is obvious that the details have not been ironed out between AMD and IBM. From the spark of such a news, it is reasonable to expect that it takes an entire quarter for both sides to plan out the details.

John.

I think k6 goes under ibm name when marketed by ibm. But either way it is definitly a bigger deal for amd than for ibm. One more important advantage for amd, IMHO, is access to ibm technology.
