Comparing IDT/IBM deal with AMD/IBM

Basically, the info on the IDT/IBM deal is more specific, because it says that IBM will be manufacturing the C6+, which is the IDT chip with improved MMX, improved floating point(2X), added 3D instructions and 0.25 micron technology. At this point we don't know whether IBM will be making K6's, K6-3D's, K6+3D's or all of the above.

Do we really know whether the IBM/AMD agreement finally hammered out includes access to 0.18 micron copper technology for making the K7?

Some news from the upcoming CeBit about a new small size desktop from Acer based on chips from Intel and AMD. infoworld.com
I thought I would mention the Computer City flyer that I received this week. Not only did it feature a Compaq K6 desktop on the cover ( a 200MHz), but it also had the K6 logo featured as prominently as an Intet logo would be. Until recently, the AMD logo was never to be found- usually it was only in the fine print, if at all, that it was even disclosed that the chip was a K6. Further, inside were 8 Compaq products- 4 AMD, 3 Intel and one Cyrix. All the AMD had a prominent display of the AMD logo. The only IBM desktops featured were two K6's, a 233 and a 266. Again with prominent K6 logo. Before I have always seen them advertised as IBM K6.(There were three Intel Thinkpads also advertised). It would seem that the retailer does not have concerns about selling the product with a prominent display of a non-Intel inside. The box makers name is enough. It is far different from the days when a Computer City would have no AMD products.
