3Com Peru Sees Fiscal 1998 Sales $30M, Vs. $25M In 1997

LIMA (Dow Jones)--Computer equipment maker 3Com Corp.'s (COMS) Peruvian subsidiary sees sales in the fiscal year ending in May increasing 20% over the previous fiscal year, Pedro Gutierrez, the district head of 3Com said Monday.

Gutierrez said that sales in fiscal 1998, which starts in May, should show a similar rise, to about $30 million, from $25 million in fiscal 1997.

He said the company is in the midst of a $1.5 million investment program to help develop the local market.

Aldo Bazan, the company's head of distribution for Peru and Bolivia, said the company would concentrate on the commercial sector in the future, with an emphasis of picking up sub-contracts from local companies.
