I am not trying to determine the veracity of her story by one line. I merely said it was a thought that had crossed my mind.

Come to think of it, the notion of a slap as an appropriate means of defense is also a bit Hollywood, isn't it? I've never slapped a guy in my life, and I don't think I know anyone who ever has. One's instinct in these circumstances is simply to back away and say "Knock it off, I'm not interested". Give him a little push, maybe. No more than that.
