Just some thoughts: AKLM seems to be trading with strength lately...connection? It too was slammed post Jan/98 only to instead do an about face and double (actually more than double). ATVI (MPRS's future court companion) mild strength today and recently. I highly doubt a connection to MPRS would be found here. The rest of the group traded mostly weak. MPRS historical chart volume implies that on a merger leak, low vol. and quick price surge occur...different than happening currently. MPRS average daily vol. is just over 300k...last two days trading vol. is over 2 million (instead of 600k +). Back to the chart and the pre-merger signals with GTIS. Like most merger leaks...the trading prior to the announcement was mostly price surging. Basically, a leak drives the momentum money to initiate market orders...with little concern for price. This trend (recent MPRS) seems more controlled. Either it is not a run-of-the-mill leak, or like Snake mentioned, a fund may be entering the stock. Tale of a "Pump & Dump". I only know of two. First involves the smart money already having a position in the stock...then hype or news is circulated to inflate the price...rapid exit (from the smart money) is executed. Not likely here since the volume is occuring without the news. Second is when a momentum play is going to be made. The smart money doesn't have a position but implements one...hopefully unoticed buying ...accumulate...then send the news out. The exit is the same, get out at a higher price. MPRS is an easy target for this type of play since it's stock price trades so low. This possibility is present... the thread should remain alert for this...I am! Like I said...this trend seems controlled...no careless market orders going in. It still appears like accumulation but by who? MM's? That would explain the high vol. with the incremental/peanut gains. The price is low enough for them to "Bank" or "Buffer" alot of shares here if something is on the horizon. At $2+/share, one house could easily decide to accumulate and hold a million shares...that's chump change to a house. I think we'll know ahead of time (maybe only minutes) of a merger leak. I don't believe were there yet. If it hits $2 3/4 on volume of 500k or more within 10-15 minutes I'll jump in for the kill(or get killed). Otherwise I still watch and hold what I have (watch AKLM also...connection? who knows, I'll still watch it..it's the only other one trading strangely to the upside). I know this post is very fragmented...I'm trying to sort out my thoughts and decided to post a couple tidbits for the thread to chew on for the short term (this week). Like everyone here I am trying to make sense of this trading...ultimately I want to play this one short term (if the opportunity arises). Currently everything I have is more distant as a holding (MPRS for a year). Anyway, what's everyone think about AKLM, MPRS volume, Pump & dump plays by the boys, etc? If by some chance another co in the group gets taken out, it could propel MPRS here...dependent on the surge, I may sell everything (a tug on MPRS to $4 or 5 and I would have to). I just hope it's MPRS and we get a gap open to the plus side...I'm sure the thread (longs) would be alot happier! Rich
