What else can a mother say?

Duncan, for a fifty-year-old woman, Hillary is generally considered attractive. I think what you may not like about her is her spirit or personality, which of course radiates from behind her physical features.

Even Dolly Kyle Browning paid her a compliment when she said Hillary looks TWICE as good at fifty as she did at twenty-five, and Dolly did know her back then. When Bill introduced Hillary to Dolly, Dolly could not even believe he was being serious. Hillary had very thick glasses, long nondescript hair, no make up, did not shave her legs, and "smelled funny".

And of course then later she began lightening her hair, got contact lenses, and a better sense of clothing style and using cosmetics. It just occurred to me that she may not have shaved her legs until recently--I remember a lot of dark tights during the first campaign. Of course there are the long years of headbands--in fact in Arkansas she was commonly called Hillary Headband.

But Dolly is a southern belle, and acknowledges that there is a lot of difference between her standards of beauty and those of Hillary, who she described as a northern feminist back in the seventies, when they were all burning their bras, of course.

The fact that Bill was attracted to Hillary enough to marry her, and bring her down home to a pretty negative reception--his mother basically felt like Dolly did--actually says something positive about him, since she was not his usual "type", and he was attracted to her for more than her looks.
