Many people must have said it, it is just that the street does not really believe it yet! It seems to me that an equilibrium will be found when long distance phone charges come down and internet pricing changes and traffic comes under control. VoIP will have a self-braked growth in a low end market slowed by its own impact on quality instead of an out of control type growth. The problem is that there are way too many companies for this type of growth and the street is notoriously impatient as we know from first experience :) How long will they be willing to go along based on potential (admitedly present) alone? I expect a rocky way ahead for companies which do not enjoy specific and sustained backing from well known telco leaders.

In regards to whether or not Internet Telephony will be regulated the deciding factor will be who has the deeper pockets for bribing politicians, the Baby Bells and traditional long distance carriers or the upstart Internet Telephony companies. The battle won't even be close. I'm afraid the free ride is coming to an end.
