But then again, why buy now when Iomega can be had for a much lower price a couple of months from now? I can't see any buyout offer happening for over $6/share.

RE: Continuing longs

Sheila and bateh,

No, you're not the only longs. I'm still here, trying to get
twenty per cent a year out of this company for my money. I think
Linda Pearson is also still with us. And Jak! It's going to be
a long haul for us all, I'm afraid. For my money, blowing
a hundred million on glitzy ads instead of just lowering
prices to under a hundred bucks was a big, big mistake.
On that one, I'm with Dave the Reseller a hundred per cent.
And I'm with Truff that the split sucked. The people in
charge at Iomega have lost their focus. We're in a competitive
market. The best product at the cheapest price will win. Buttons
and clickers and cutesy ads aren't, in the end, what matters.
We want a cheap replacement for the floppy, and a cheap
replacement for flash memory in cameras. End of story.

Cheers nonetheless, Tom (longer IOM than ever before, alas)

sheila,

Whenever there is very bad news or very good news (occassional occurrence) it seems posters crawl out of the woodwork and we see a lot of unfamiliar names. Even taking that into account we have "lost" several longtime holders of the stock over the past couple of months. It does appear that this is another rite of passage for IOM.

Think how interesting this would be if we weren't playing with real money.

I'm still here, just haven't had time to post much lately (and not sure what to say or think).

Shiela, I'm still long with you and the rest of the folks who responded to your note... Not too happy about it, but long for the time being. May use a sale of some of my highest price shares to establish a tax loss at this point and will consider buying back after the wash sale period. I don't think we are going to see much movement until June when there should be news from the New York PC Expo about the Clik! drive... I hope! What blows me away is thinking that I could have just put my money in an index fund and beat the Beardstown Ladies all to pieces!! The market is setting new highs every day and we are looking at near all time lows for the New Iomega. I try to be optimistic about IOM over the longer period of say a year of two and still think there is reasonably good potential there, but it sure is hard look back a few months and realize what a nice profit we had going for us last fall. I just had to stay in until it split, and after all we were going to have a big Xmas quarter, sales were doing well and... I've just got to learn to use a good stop loss order! I happened to be at a conference in Orlando, FL at the time of all the new highs last fall and I remember a friend of mine warning me that I should be sure to follow the price up with a stop loss. Hind sight is so clear. I retire in a few months, so I guess I can always have a few interesting stories to tell around the investment club get-togethers, like what it feels like to see 100K go down the drain in a couple of days~! My Roth IRAs are in shambles at this moment, but if I live long enough to see tax free withdrawals, maybe IOM will have recovered to at least 15 by then. Luckily, I still have a good return on my 401K, which is now mostly in a bond index fund. What was the term used, "IOM should only be considered for Risk Tolerant investors!" Boy, am I ever trying to be "Risk Tolerant"... My very best to All of Us Longs... wherever you are!! Mel
