I think GIC is "going Japanese. I really think so."

Sorry your buyout experiences haven't gone well in the past...

I recently held MON 20 calls and got my buyout- so have faith.

Forget the weakness for now, I think the Apple story is spooking things.

Keep in mind as far as valuation:

1. Sony is paying $25 for a 5% interest- the Japanese aren't that stupid.

2. The cable companies have options at a shade under $15.

3. The Op Cap filing is good to know too- they are value managers ( I know them well) and they would not be buying without thinking they are getting a 50% discount to what they think its worth and rarely do they buy tech. The last major tech bet OpCap made was when they bought INTC in the 60's (one or two spits ago) on the Pentium flaw. In cable they bought TCOMA early last year in the low teens.

But the real deal is this- Why's Sony paying $25- because I believe they also were paying for an option to buy the whole thing.

Larry:

I don't use Ameritrade myself, but just in case it helps, there are some recent posts by very dissatisfied users of that service on the Yahoo Boards - TDFX thread.

Larry, "Everbody wants to get into the act, HOTCHACHACHAAAA"

I guess you already know I like the dct5000. Is it everything I want? Naaaaaaahhh! Excellent start though. Who will give me what I want? Intel? Maybe. I want HDTV, DVD, Telephone, Blazingly fast internet access, killer sound, and probably something else I can't think of right now. IMHO this spells consumer electronics, and to me consumer electronics is spelled SONY. I mean if SONY knows how to do anything right, it is design, build and SELL consumer electronics. Intel builds CPU's exceedingly well. Therefore, I believe Intel has a longer road to the promised land. Their learning curve will be much steeper. I guess I'm respectfully disagreeing with you. Consider it a challenge between two gentlemen where no one gets hurt. The only spot on the admittedly rosy picture that I've painted is why the hell does SONY need GIC? I mean, "Are there no cable engineers in all of Japan that SONY should need GIC"? My only answer is that SONY wants to move quickly, like right now! It really is breathtaking to see all these different companies like AAPL, MSFT, IBM, GIC, SFA (the list is endless) descending on this box thingy as the Holy Grail of all electronics. Will SONY take out GIC! Haven't a clue in the world. All I know is what's in the press release. I'm just a toothpic floating on a sea of uncertainty trying to sail through the next 2 quarters in one piece. I do know the Japanese like to strike early and hard (remember Pearl Harbor) and when they move, they move with all they've got. BANZAI!

Whew! Can I run my mouth or what?! Well, thats it tonight for the BigBull. Don't get me started on general market conditions! Just don't! Sometimes it is nice to just kick back and watch. Enough with the gut churning and grey hairs already. I empathize.

Still long and still hedged. Waiting for this stupid price pattern to resolve, but ready for battle.

Yours, Kevin
