No Chris I have not read the bible recently. The bible has many messages in it. You choose Paul because he supports your views. I did study the bible actively when I was younger. I felt there were enough contradictions between various books to make be believe that it was an imperfect attempt by frail and fallible although well intentioned men to interpret the will and word of God. This has been magnified by centuries of interpretation. The bible is a wonderful document but it needs to be used with care. Literal translation has led to many of the barbarous acts catalogued by Graystone. I believe it is much more important to believe in the message of Christ. The message of compassion and love. The message of acceptance of all regardless of their condition. The wonderful life affirming message of the bible is that God is a God of love and compassion for his creations. I find it hard to imagine God as an I.R.S. auditor who has a list against which the slightest failing brings damnation. I believe this is how God wishes us to live and celebrate him. I respect your beliefs but they are not mine. No one, not even the apostle Paul, can stand between us and a direct and independent understanding and love of God.
