Henry
I applaud your post. If you were here, I'd shake your hand. I originally said that I would kiss you (in a heterosexual way) but I didnt think that many would get or appreciate the joke.

Henry, God is a god of love and compassion but he has another side. He must be a judge also. He will judge all and separate His sons and daughters from the masses. If you accept and love him you must also realize he will return in power with a sword.
James

Hi Henry,
This statement of your jumped out at me.
<< I did study the bible actively when I was
younger. I felt there were enough contradictions between various books to make be
believe that it was an imperfect attempt by frail and fallible although well intentioned
men to interpret the will and word of God.>>
Not to offend you or pick arguments, but would you consider that the seeming contradictions are because of our lack of understanding of what God is saying? We are not the ones with infinite wisdom, God is. If we accept the Bible as the infallible word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit, then any contradiction is because of our lack of understanding.
