Linda...I went for the basket short...I have been well in the money on DELL and CPQ short sell...and now I have shorted the tertiary players...namely GTW, MUEI, AAPL...I know for certain (and you will see this today)...what kind of deals CPQ will be throwing to get rid of their huge inventory...CPQ will shut down their productiion for a few weeks...the semis are reporting glut/oversupplied chip mkt

maybe Apple is Apple but they will feel it...CPQ avoided price cut in the past few weeks to the business community on desktops and servers choosing to give away free monitors...today they will annouce price cuts and trade financing (this is unusual)...remember CPQ sells receivables rather than to collect the cash

I think the whole sector will be hit...I was impressed with AAPL stability yesterday...but this and next week will be the tes...yesterday the mkt was bouyed by Apple festival...today maybe the WSJ article...the unless you follow the Wintel producers, I dont think you can fully comprehend the inventory problem in the business/corporate sector by 3 of the top five box makers--CPQ, IBM, HWP...the impact is twofolds..the current pricing war the will get ugly quickly and the impact on future demand...because the pricing tactics only borrow from future demand...this has got to affect GTW, MUEI, AAPL IMO

regarding WSJ...I think Bear Stearns is trying to drum up business...c'mon using price to sales as the measure...we know AAPL has low PSR but it reflects the uncertainty of growth (top line growth)...at their projected PSR, earnings estimates would have to more than double so that price to earnings look normal to the rest of the group...BS is a brokerage house...and Mssr. Neff will be proven wrong...unfortunatley for me, the sentiment is not vry favorable for shorts...but I work off baskets and I am very bearish on box makers as I am semis and equipment makers...of course, we know that if I am right I could still lose money...I am looking for the entire industry valuation to be taken down as DELL and CPQ PEs get revised...so Linda we can both win even if my AAPL position is a loss....win some lose some...keep playing

BTW, how about GEMS...what happen to cause 2 pt move? if you know pls post on GEMS...

good luck LInda

all the best

Linda: << I hope Apple goes down for you and up for me. Stocks tend to go up and down. :-} >> You are right, one thing I noticed with a lot of stocks, even Apple.......they fluctuate. Bill
