Like Ron said before, I would make sure I had proof to back up any statements made. I am not a lawyer, So I just apply what I have learned in the business world, always cover your ass.. Knowing things are true and proving things are true in court are not always the same thing. Courts tend to want documented facts.

because I understand there is a chance Mr. E. might get a formal invitation from some agency here.

I think the optimal time would have been when the story was just beginning to unfold and before people had a chance to rehearse their stories.
