Thanks, Mr Metals. More food for thought...
If, or rather when, a major starts to show interest, we should realize that the new player will not have billions of dollars in cash. Therefore, either the player comes early and offers a few dollars per share in the hope that lots of shareholders will be happy to sell at that price since they would still be making a good profit, or the major waits and then offers payment in the form of stock from that major or stock options.
The first possibility is likely, with all the shares that have been traded at below $0.10. A lot of people having bought at those levels would be happy to sell quick for a few dollars (take the money and run). Once a major has control, it may decide to keep operations at a minimal level, sitting on the tremendous reserves until POG starts to climb, which will happen God knows when. That would not be too good for the minority shareholders still in.
