i trust MM's words about has much as i trust that Bill is telling the truth. LGND jumps a major hurdle when it is able to get it's first NDA and thus sell its first drug. I'm not anticipating that the stock will fly, but I am anticipating that the street will be a more aware of lgnd and that the NDA will give the company much more credibility (ie that all the money spent on R&D wasn't wasted).
If lgnd doesn't get the NDA, the stock will drop faster than Bill's pants in a whore house( sorry, I just love using Bill CLinton analogies).

LGND has to produce is really the bottom line now.

I never understood why the Leptin deal was such an importang thing. I has the distinction of catapulting Ligand to its all time high in 1996. But the only real difference of Ligand with or without the Leptin deal is that Ligand with the Leptin deal has a chance of getting slightly higher royalties several years from now. Discounted back that should make almost no difference in the stock price.

<< Don't be disapointed if NDA is announced and LGND only goes up 2 points >>

Tony, Interesting point for discussion. Perhaps you and others are familiar with the effect an NDA has had on other biotechs.

Certainly there are many, many examples of this. Perhaps those people with a strong background of viewing many companies over the years and seeing a lot of NDAs can tell us how they generally affect the price.

Tony,

>Didn't CTSL say last year that LGND would 'fly' when the leptin deal
>was announced? I'm not sure that today qualifies as 'flying', do you?

Today was more in the ''flapping of the wings" category :-)

It would be nice if LGND could make through the 16-17 range before the NDA gets filed/announced. Has anyone bothered to ask IR if the NDA filing is still on track for this quarter? That is, within the next week and a half or so.....

Thanks, Torben
