The publisher is a self-admitted big fan of Clinton. Seems that the publisher was willing to pay her $300,000 if she supported Clinton and if she didn't say he did anything wrong: In a related development, a Los Angeles book publisher said he had rejected an autobiography proposal by Willey. Michael Viner said in an interview with ABCNEWS that he had been considering the offer for the past few months, but decided not to make the deal after he saw Willey's televised appearance. "The Kathleen Willey presented [on 60 Minutes] was a different person with a different story than the portrait that had been painted for me the past few weeks," he said. Viner said that Willey's lawyer had approached him seeking $300,000 for a book that presented her as "a fan, a friend who cared about President Clinton." Viner did not say that the lawyer, Daniel Gecker, had offered a different version of Willey's 1993 encounter with Clinton. abcnews.com Looks like Willey gave up $300,000 because she wanted to tell the truth about her friend, Clinton. Other reports indicate that Viner revived the offer just before the 60 Minutes interview - but Willey went ahead anyway. In retrospect it also looks like the $300,000 was a thinly-veiled bribe for her not to do that.
