REPORT: CBS LEFT OUT BOOK DEAL DETAIL

There are several reports this morning that CBS NEWS executives are now worried that they jumped the gun on last weekend's 60 MINUTES Kathleen Willey interview. Reports of a possible $300,000 book deal and talk of a STAR magazine tabloid deal [also $300,000] have given top execs reason to doubt her sincerity. According to one source: "The fact is that no one at 60 MINUTES did anything to check into Willey's allegations and simply rushed to put her on the air ASAP." Don Hewitt, Executive Producer, who gave press interviews saying "Willey is believable" last week is now in seclusion and is barely defending his decision to put Willey on the air, reveals an insider. There is a report that almost 40 minutes of rebuttal by Clinton lawyer Bob Bennett ended up on the cutting room floor -- despite the fact that he mentioned a possible book deal! The revelation is bound to ignite a media firestorm. The 60 MINUTES press spokesman was not immediately available for comment. The DRUDGE REPORT has learned that CBS NEWS executives will soon meet to see if a follow up piece is needed for this Sunday's show... Developing...

I really think CBS should run the full 40 minutes of Bennetts comments. I'd like to see if he ever looked up. We know for at least ~10 minutes of it he didn't. :)
