Hi Michael...

Yes, the timing of the Press Release *was* dictated by Delphi. I checked with Simula management to confirm that today. The implications are exactly as you see them.

It is my belief that we will move into "high gear" now. For the first time, we actually have a first tier supplier that believes in the technology. It is what we have been waiting for.

BTW, today Sean faxed me an article from this month's Motor Trend Magazine highlighting the "BMW" breakthrough in head airbag safety. Most of the contents of the article regular readers of this "thread" will find familiar, so I won't repeat them.

What I did find important, however, was commentary from Brian O'Neill, president of the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (an ITS advocate) indicating that Mercedes current time schedule for the "curtain" is at least into 1999, and Volvo is not able to make a determination when it will be in the marketplace.

Both foreign car companies are customers of Autoliv, which Simula has just brought litigation against because of the "anti-competitive" campaign that the Swedish firm has waged against it. If Mercedes and Volvo are unhappy with Autoliv's progress on its own curtain (which now seems more and more likely given the ongoing slippage in promised production dates), there is a real opportunity for ITS to end up in one or both sets of platforms.

We will soon know, of course, but it pays to be cognizant of Delphi's end users: Although I haven't checked in quite some time, it is my recollection that Mercedes is on the list (as well as a couple of dozen other firms), and the new contractual arrangement certainly gives us a better chance to write that business.

Have a good evening.
